Men's Basketball Visit Wesmen, Bisons This Weekend
October 23, 2013 — Thunder Bay, Ont.
The men's basketball team travels to Winnipeg this weekend for a pair of non-conference games, vs the Winnipeg Wesmen Friday and the Manitoba Bisons Saturday.

The Thunderwolves lost to the Wesmen at the beginning of October by a slim 4-point margin, 82-78 in the Thunderdome. It's been several years since the the 'Wolves and Bisons played each other. The Bisons went 14-8 in Canada West play last season, averaging 83 points per game.

Coach Matt Erdman:

"This weekend provides us another opportunity to play two quality opponents in Winnipeg and Manitoba. It's a chance to improve on a number of areas from last weekend, especially playing with a sense of urgency from the tip and sticking to the game plan for 40 minutes. We understand there will be some learning curves and adjustments with so many new faces and guys playing in roles they haven't played in before but this is our last chance to get the kinks out before conference play. Winnipeg is a very good team that takes advantage of poor defensive execution. They make you pay for poor rotations and screen defense with outside shooting and dribble penetration. Manitoba on the other hand is going to test our defensive transition and they have a bunch guys that can make plays at the offensive end."

Game Schedule:

Friday, Oct 25 vs Winnipeg @ 7pm ET (webcast via CanadaWestTV)

Saturday, Oct 26 vs Manitoba @ 9pm ET (no webcast)
